Joe Lacey has built his career—and his public service—on integrity, fiscal responsibility, and a steadfast commitment to the people of Dayton. With more than 40 years of experience in finance, accounting, and government service, Joe brings the knowledge and leadership our schools and community deserve.

For over 16 years, I’ve served on the Dayton Board of Education—working to strengthen our schools, manage our resources responsibly, and ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed. As a Certified Public Accountant and lifelong public servant, I’ve brought the same financial discipline and dedication to our schools that I’ve practiced throughout my career.

I am a DPS parent with a daughter attending Mound Street Academy, a Certified Public Accountant, a DPS board member in my 16th year of service, and a former volunteer in my neighborhood. I also served in the U.S. Peace Corps in the Solomon Islands, where I learned the power of education and community partnership on a global scale.

I know what’s possible when we keep our focus on students, support our teachers and staff, and partner with families. Together, we’ve made progress in building stability, expanding opportunities, and keeping Dayton Public Schools moving forward.

But there’s more work ahead. With your support, I will continue to fight for safe schools, strong academics, and sound financial stewardship—so every student has more opportunities than the generation before them.
